A proper mobile polish: one simple menu, smoother data entry, and a layout that fits your screen

·2 min read

Mobile is how most of you use GetFired, so this release is dedicated to making it feel right on your phone. No new numbers or tax changes this time – just a properly polished experience.

One simple menu, on every page

Until now, different pages used slightly different navigation on mobile – Portfolio and Account had one style, the Calculator and Journey another. Now every page in the app uses the same menu: tap your avatar in the top-right corner to reach everything – Dashboard, Journey, Portfolio, Account and the rest. It works the same way everywhere, so you always know where to find things.

The GetFired flame is also back in the top-left corner on every screen, so it always feels like you are in the app.

Entering your numbers is smoother

We fixed a frustrating quirk with the on-screen keyboard. Previously, tapping from one field straight into another could send the second field jumping out of sight behind the keyboard – forcing you to close the keyboard, find the field and tap in again. Entering a lot of information became tiring as a result. Now the field you are editing stays put, above the keyboard, every time.

The app now fits your screen properly

A few layout gremlins on mobile have been sorted out:

  • The header could tuck up underneath your phone's status bar or camera notch, which sometimes made the menu hard to tap. It now sits clear, every time.
  • After closing an input panel, or arriving from the quick check on our homepage, the whole page could end up shifted up – the header cut off at the top and an empty gap left at the bottom above your browser bar. The app now fills your screen exactly, top to bottom.
  • The Journey page had the same header-cut-off issue on phones with a notch. Also fixed.

These were most noticeable on iPhones, and they are the sort of thing that quietly makes an app feel unfinished – so we are glad to see the back of them.
